Applications now open for summer jobs with the Boulder County Youth Corps
Teen application deadline is Friday, April 4. Adult applications will open soon.
Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder County residents ages 14-17 have until Friday, April 4, to apply for summer jobs with the Boulder County Youth Corps.
The Youth Corps provides opportunities for teens to develop a sense of community involvement through personal accomplishment, teamwork, and service to the county. Since 1996, participants have been completing projects for Boulder County departments, municipalities, and towns.
Corpsmembers benefit by learning strong work habits, new skills, and the value of environmental and civic stewardship. County departments, municipalities, and towns benefit from the maintenance projects and tangible products, such as new trails built by Corpsmembers, each summer.
Teens will work 30 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, from June 9 to July 30 on a variety of conservation and stewardship projects including trail construction and maintenance, historic preservation, forest thinning, construction and repair of fencing, landscaping, and removal of noxious weeds. Pay starts at $16.00 per hour.
Affinity Crews and Community Forest Corps
The Youth Corps believes diversity is a key source of strength for our communities and we strive to create a safe and empowering environment for participants from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities. A key element of our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is fielding single-identity affinity crews to support communities historically underserved in the outdoor space. This year, we will field two affinity crews, a Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) Crew and a LGBTQ+ Crew. Affinity crews will work on typical Youth Corps projects side-by-side with Corpsmembers and Leaders who share in their identity.
The Youth Corps will also field a Community Forest Corps team in partnership with PLAY Boulder Foundation Tree Trust. Launched in June 2024, the Community Forest Corps empowers local youth to care for trees planted by our Tree Trust, while acquiring knowledge about the power of nature to combat climate change, giving back to the planet and our communities, as well as learning about potential career pathways in urban forestry and nature-based climate solutions. Corpsmembers on this team will gain skills related to tree care, leadership, public speaking, community organizing, and more in this summer job program.
