Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Assists in Search and Rescue of Missing 9-Year-Old Child
Boulder County, Colo. - At approximately 8:57 AM this morning, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Communications Center received a report of a missing 9-year-old autistic child. The child was last seen running west from the Mountain Shadows Montessori School, heading into City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) property.
Multiple agencies responded swiftly to assist in the search. The Boulder Emergency Squad deployed drones for aerial search support, while the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group provided ground searchers. Front Range Rescue Dogs joined the effort with search dogs to aid in locating the child.
Ten personnel from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, including deputies and animal protection officers, also responded. Sheriff’s Deputy Scrudder and K-9 bloodhound “Watson” played a key role in the search. At 10:11 AM, Deputy Scrudder and OSMP Ranger Kelly McBride successfully located the missing child, who was unharmed.
