Update: Public Asked for Assistance in Identifying Stabbing Suspect

Suspect charged and booked at Boulder County Jail

Boulder County, Colo. - The suspect in this incident, Randy J. Wojno, D.O.B. 10/27/59, turned himself and was booked at the Boulder County Jail this morning on a $10,000 bond. He has been charged with First Degree Assault (class 3 felony), and Dogs Running At Large (petty offense).

A suspect has been identified, and all involved people are cooperating with law enforcement as the investigation continues. The identity of the suspect is not currently being released due the on-going nature of the investigation. We do not believe that there is a threat to the public at this time.

At 7:46 a.m. this morning, Sept. 11, 2024, the Boulder County Communications Center received a report of a stabbing which took place on Chapman Drive at the Tenderfoot Trail, an Open Space and Mountain Parks trail located west of the city of Boulder, near the 3400 block of Flagstaff Road.

The male victim was hiking when he was confronted by a male suspect. The victim had interacted with the suspect previously while utilizing the trail, as they both frequent the area. The suspect stabbed the victim with a knife, multiple times.

The suspect then fled up the Tenderfoot Trail to the Realization Point parking lot. Eight sheriff’s office deputies responded, in addition to city open space rangers, and after an extensive search of the area, they believe the suspect is no longer in the area.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall with grey hair, wearing shorts. The suspect is believed to be approximately 60 years old. The suspect also had a dog with him, which may be recognized by the public. The dog is described as a small, multi-colored dog, with trimmed hair. The dog is possibly some type of Terrier.

The victim, who sustained serious injury, was transported to a local hospital to receive medical care.
