Program Summary: | Please join us to enhance wetland functionality and diversity by planting native shrubs at our Bailey- Kenosha wetland property! This area is part of the recent East Boulder Creek Management Plan for the Prairie Run Open Space, which you can find out more about on Boulder County’s website. Improving wetlands on the plains is a priority for Boulder County Parks & Open Space. Plains wetlands are at risk due to agriculture and human community development, and has resulted in significant losses of this important habitat over time. This is crucial habitat for plants and wildlife and it’s critical that we do what we can to protect and improve what we have left. We are aiming to plant around 500 native shrubs throughout this wetland complex. This will involve digging using shovels and hand tools, bending, kneeling, squatting, carrying plants, and water buckets throughout plantings areas for watering. |
