Replacement Ballots

Did your dog eat your ballot? Did you make a mistake on your ballot? Did your mail ballot not arrive as expected? No problem! Visit our Elections Office at 33rd St. in Boulder and staff can quickly issue a replacement ballot to you anytime during regular hours. You can also visit any Vote Center to receive a replacement ballot after they open on Monday, June 22.

Before you come in for a replacement ballot, we recommend you check your voter registration and make sure your address is correct. If you find that the address we have on file for you is incorrect, update your address. If it’s on or before Monday, June 22, we’ll automatically send you a replacement ballot. After June 22, just come into any Vote Center and we’ll issue a replacement. In any case, make sure your voted ballot is returned to us by 7 p.m. on Election Day to be counted!

Once we issue a replacement, your original ballot will be voided. If you lost your original ballot or it didn’t arrive in a timely manner and later find it or it arrives in the mail, just shred or recycle the original mailed ballot and vote your replacement ballot. And remember, in Colorado we count only the first ballot we receive from you.

Have your Ballot Sent to an Alternative Address

Local/stateside ballots begin mailing Monday, June 8. Ballots cannot be forwarded by the postal service, however, Boulder County Elections can mail your ballot to an alternative address as long as you update your address on or before June 22. Simply update your voter registration record with an alternative mailing address. When you access your voter record, the first address is your residential address (your legal residence). If you don’t want your ballot mailed there, add a mailing address below this option (second address – no need to put anything in the third address area). Just remember to set a personal calendar reminder to update it after the election.

Traveling internationally?

We recommend you pick up your ballot and vote early. But if you cannot and would like to receive your ballot while traveling internationally, you can vote as an overseas voter. When updating your registration, you’ll see a question labeled, “Are you any of the following?” Select the option labeled “An overseas civilian voter who is eligible to vote in Colorado” and then follow the additional prompts about how you would like to receive your ballot. Learn more about this option on our Military and Overseas Voters page. Ballots begin mailing to overseas/military voters on Friday, May 15 and continue to be mailed as registration changes are received through June 22. However, we urge overseas voters to request a ballot as early as possible to give the ballot enough time to travel through the mail.

Did you just register to vote?

If you just registered to vote and it’s on or before June 22, you will automatically be mailed a Boulder County ballot for the 2026 Primary Election. If it’s after June 22, come into any Vote Center and we can print out a ballot for you, or you can vote in person!
