2026 Caucus Information

2026 Caucus Information

The Boulder County Clerk and Recorder’s Office does not conduct the precinct caucuses nor the delegate selection process. The caucuses are conducted by the political parties.

The following is information provided solely as a public service. Please contact your local Democratic Party or local Republican Party for additional information or please see the Secretary of State Caucuses, Assemblies, and Conventions FAQs for more information on the process.

What is a precinct caucus?

In March of every even-numbered year, Colorado’s main political parties (the Democratic and Republican Parties) hold neighborhood meetings called precinct caucuses. These meetings are for voters who belong to the party (affiliated voters). At a caucus, people help choose delegates who will go to bigger meetings at the county and state level called assemblies. Those delegates later help decide which candidates (at the county, state, and congressional level) will be on the party’s ballot for the June primary election and what ideas the party supports, also known as a platform. Precinct caucuses are open to the public and happen all over the state.

When and where do the 2026 caucuses take place?

Who may participate in caucus?

To vote in a precinct caucus, an elector must have been registered to vote at your current address and affiliated with the party no later than 22 days prior to the party’s caucus. Visit the Secretary of State’s website to register or update your registration.

I am registered with the American Constitution, Green, Libertarian, etc. Party. Are they having a caucus or similar gathering?

These parties are minor parties in Colorado (learn more about the difference between major and minor parties). They may be hosting party meetings or conventions. Please see the applicable party website for details.
