Recovery Navigation Program to end by March 31, 2024

CLARIFICATION to "Recovery Navigators will conclude intake on Dec. 1, 2023": Recovery Navigators will continue to help those impacted by the Marshall Fire through the end of the program in March 2024. A Dec. 1 intake deadline was recommended to allow enough time to receive the recovery support needed.

UPDATED News Release from Nov. 9, 2023.

The Navigating Disaster for Boulder County program, which provided Recovery Navigators to help residents impacted by the Marshall Fire and Straight-Line Wind Event navigate the recovery and rebuilding process, will end by March 31, 2024.

“Marshall Fire and Straight-Line Wind Event related recovery and resilience efforts continue and the county expresses thanks to our existing and future partners who aid impacted residents," said Michelle Stinnett, Recovery and Resiliency Division Manager. "Recovery Navigation services met a critical need during the early phases of recovery and throughout 2023. With this transition, the community enters a new phase during which we will continue to devote resources to rebuilding, aiding provision of community basic needs, and exploring mitigation efforts that will lead to enhanced community resilience.”

The Navigating Disaster program has provided one-on-one short and long-term support to 430 disaster-impacted residents since July 2022. To ensure the ability to provide meaningful support, including referrals to legal and insurance providers, comprehensive recovery planning resources, financial resources, and mental health services, Recovery Navigators will conclude intake on Dec. 1, 2023.

  • Residents wishing to take advantage of this free service for the first time should do so before the intake closure deadline. They can set up an appointment by calling 303-446-7782, emailing NavigatingDisasterBOCO@lfsrm.org, or filling out the screening form at Recovery Navigation Screening. Recovery Navigators provide confidential, personalized services for Marshall Fire and Wind Event survivors by appointment only, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., either virtually or in person at 357 McCaslin Blvd, Suite 115-B, Louisville.
  • Navigators will continue to answer questions and help with applications for available programs during the first months of 2024. Afterwards, application support for Boulder County Use Tax Rebates, the State of Colorado Housing Recovery Program, including the Wind and Wildfire Home Protection Mitigation funds, the Colorado Energy Office Recovery Electrification Rebates, and the Community Foundation Boulder County Rebuild and Unmet Needs Grants will be provided directly by the Impact Development Fund.
  • Residents currently working with a Recovery Navigator can continue to receive support into 2024. Residents still needing recovery and rebuilding support after program closure will be connected with the appropriate agencies or resources. Up-to-date information will also be available on the Boulder County Marshall Fire Recovery

The Navigating Disaster for Boulder County program was funded by Boulder County and the Community Foundation of Boulder County’s Boulder County Wildfire Fund. Boulder County partnered with Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains (LFSRM) on the administration of the program. Additional staffing and operational support for the navigation program was provided by the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) and Lutheran Disaster Response. Both the City of Louisville and Marshall ROC - Restore our Community (MROC) donated space for the Navigators to work in and see clients.
