Hall Ranch Forestry Project to begin today. Expect heavy equipment on access road.
Trails will remain open.
Boulder County, Colo. - The City of Longmont, Colorado State Forest Service, The Watershed Center, the Boulder Valley and Longmont Conservation districts, and Boulder County Parks & Open Space agencies are collaborating on forest restoration projects in and around Hall Ranch open space and Button Rock Preserve.
Crews will be doing road work on the Hall Ranch access road this week to widen and stabilize the road for heavy equipment and emergency vehicle access. Please give heavy equipment and operators the right of way to do their work.
During the forestry work on the western edge of Hall Ranch open space and Longmont's Button Rock Preserve, heavy equipment will be travelling along the access road and crossing designated trails. The trails will remain open, but extra caution is warranted.
The project will lessen the chances of significant wildfire impacts including post-fire sedimentation and other adverse impacts on the City of Longmont's water supply. The Antelope Park Forest Health Project will be guided by the Button Rock Preserve Forest Stewardship Plan in consultation with Colorado State Forest Service.
This project is part of the larger Saint Vrain Forest Health Partnership Project, funded by the Colorado Strategic Wildfire Action Program from the Department of Natural Resources, a Forest Restoration and Wildfire Risk Mitigation grant from the Colorado State Forest Service, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service Environmental Quality Incentives Program grant, with a match from all agency partners.
This is all possible due to the St. Vrain Forest Health Partnership working together to initiate meaningful change on our forested landscape.
For questions about the work on Hall Ranch, please contact Senior Forester Michael Agena at 303-413-7771 or magena@bouldercounty.org.
