Hiker evacuated from Eldorado State Park
Boulder County, Colo. - On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at approximately 4:30 p.m. the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a call from hikers in Eldorado State Park who were hearing faint calls for help in the area of Cadillac Crags.
Rescuers from Mountain View Fire Protection District and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group hiked into the area while the original 911 caller and their group continued up to the injured party. The group reach the 71-year-old Boulder resident who had a lower leg injury. Rescuers then arrived a short time later and prepared the patient to be carried back out to the Visitors Center in a litter.
Rescuers proceeded to carry the subject from the isolated area to an ambulance where he was transported to a Boulder area hospital with non-life threating injuries. The rescue took approximately four hours.
Agencies involved in the rescue included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Eldorado State Park, Mountain View Fire Protection District and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.
