Boulder County stands in solidarity with the people of Colorado Springs
The Pride flag will be flown at the Historic Downtown Courthouse in support of Colorado’s LGBTQ+ community
To the Boulder County community,
We were devastated to learn of last evening’s shooting and the tragic deaths in Colorado Springs at Club Q, on November 20, 2022, the recognized Transgender Day of Remembrance.
Boulder County stands in solidarity with Colorado Springs and the LGBTQ+ community. As scheduled, the Historic Downtown Courthouse (1325 Pearl Street, Boulder) was lit up blue, white, and pink last night/this morning to mark Transgender Day of Remembrance. The Pride flag will now be flown tomorrow (Monday) in support of Boulder County’s and all of Colorado’s LGBTQ+ community.
While we are thankful for the quick action of first responders and neighbors, it is still challenging to hear of another such event and more gun violence. Receiving this news will be difficult for our residents and staff and Boulder County Public Health is working diligently to arrange support.
Recognizing that tragic events can have a significant impact on mental and emotional health, our colleagues at Boulder County Public Health remind us of the following available services:
- Out Boulder is providing community supports and a place to gather at 3340 Mitchell Lane, Boulder or 303-499-5777
- The Mental Health Partners Crisis Service Center is open 24/7 to the public at 3180 Airport Rd, Boulder, CO.
- The BoulderStrong Resource Center at 2935 Baseline Road will be open to the public Mon-Wed this week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with counseling, massage, acupuncture and other services, and has online resources on their website.
- OASOS is present to support LGBTQ+ youth and allies, please reach out to OASOS@bouldercounty.org for information on community gathering and resources.
- Boulder Public Library has family resources for processing violence.
We extend thanks and appreciation to Boulder County Public Health and all of our colleagues who so resiliently support the needs of the community. Please know that the Board of County Commissioners remains committed to working with state and local partners to prevent gun violence in our communities so that tragedies like this are an awful memory and not a current news story.
In the spirit of service,
Commissioner Marta Loachamin, Commissioner Claire Levy, and Commissioner Matt Jones
