Boulder County Hosts Open House at Assay Office Museum on Oct.15

The James F. Bailey Assay Office Museum, located in the historic town of Wallstreet just west of Boulder, helps tell the history of hard rock mining in Boulder County. Come explore the assay office where prospectors would take their ore samples to find out whether they had “struck it rich.” The museum contains many tools and implements used in the assaying process.

The museum has been closed for repairs all summer, so this is the only open house until next season.

  • Time: Drop by any time between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Cost: Admission is free, and all ages are welcome.
  • Location: 6352 Fourmile Canyon Dr., Boulder.
