Multiple Aircraft Collided Over Boulder County
There are three Confirmed fatalities at this time
Boulder County, Colo. - At approximately 0854 hours the Boulder County Communications Center received multiple emergency phone calls regarding two planes which collided in mid-air. Boulder County Sheriff’s deputies, Colorado State Patrol, Rocky Mountain Fire Rescue and Boulder Rural Rescue responded to the area of 10,000 Niwot Rd and discovered two separate crash sites.
The first crashed aircraft was found in the 10,000 block of Niwot Rd on the south side. At this time there are two confirmed occupants in the aircraft, both of which were deceased upon first responders arriving on scene.
The second crashed aircraft was found in the 9,700 block of Niwot Rd on the north side. At this time there is one confirmed occupant in the aircraft, this individual was deceased upon first responders arriving on scene.
None of the decedents have been identified at this time, once identified, next of kin will be notified before their names are released to media outlets.
The investigation is still in progress at this time.
Departments whom responded and assisted are the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue, Boulder County Coroner, Mountain View Fire, Boulder Rural Fire Rescue, Boulder Emergency Squad, Colorado State Patrol, Colorado Department of Transportation, Lifeline Helicopter’s, the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board.
