Free solo climber gets stuck on the Second Flatiron

Boulder County, Colo. - On Saturday, June 25, 2022 at approximately 12:56 p.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stuck climber on the Second Flatiron.

A Ranger from City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Park and members from the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group arrived on scene approximately 20 minutes after the call was received and entered the field immediately. The subject was approximately 160 feet up the Second Flatiron and becoming fatigued. After securing the 28-year-old male from Arvada, rescuers assisted the climber down the rock face. The rescue took approximately one and a half hours.

Agencies assisting with the rescue included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.

The associated Boulder County Sheriff’s Office case number was 22-2978.
