Hiker rescued after fall on Shadow Canyon Trail

Boulder County, Colo. - On Wednesday June 15, 2022, at approximately 2:33 p.m.., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a male that had fallen on the trail and suffered head injuries.

Rangers from the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks arrived first and were followed by Boulder Fire-Rescue and members of Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.

Rescuers stabilized the injured hiker and then performed a littler carry of the injured hiker down the trail. The 70-year-old male from Boulder was then transferred to an ambulance. American Medical Response (AMR) transported him to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. The rescue took approximately three hours.

Agencies assisting with this rescue included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, American Medical Response, Boulder Fire-Rescue, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.
