Climber Injured at Eldorado State Park

Boulder County, Colo. -

On Monday, May 23, 2022 at approximately 3:05 p.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a climber who had fallen while climbing in the area of the Redgarden Wall in Eldorado State Park. The climber had fallen approximately 25 to 30 feet.

Rescuers from the Mountain View Fire Protection District were in the State Park on a training exercise and were able to get to the injured climber quickly to provide first aid. Additional rescuers from the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group hiked into the scene. The 25-year-old climber from Raleigh, North Carolina was stabilized and then carried approximately one-quarter mile downhill to an ambulance and transported to a Boulder area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The rescue took approximately one hour.

Agencies assisting with this rescue included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Mountain View Fire Protection District and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.
