Climber at Eldorado Canyon State Park found deceased
Boulder County, Colo. - Today, March 3, 2022, the Boulder County Communications Center received notice of a fallen climber in Eldorado Canyon State Park at approximately 2:22 p.m.
The 48-year-old male climber was descending along the backside of the Bastille Wall, when he fell approximately 300-400 feet, according to witnesses. The climber was pronounced deceased upon arrival of paramedics from the Mountain View Fire Protection District.
Detectives from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and investigators from the Boulder County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene to investigate. Rescue personnel from Rocky Mountain Rescue Group evacuated the deceased climber’s body to the trailhead.
Agencies assisting on this incident included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder County Coroner’s Office, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, Mountain View Fire Protection District, and Louisville Fire Protection District.
The Boulder County Coroner’s Office will release the identification of the climber, as well as the cause and manner of death. At this time, the death does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
