No injuries reported following 6-hour rescue

Boulder County, Colo. - On Saturday, December 18, 2021 at approximately 5:04 p.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received a 911 call from two climbers near the top of the Redgarden Wall in Eldorado Canyon State Park. They told the dispatcher that they were stuck, close to hypothermic and needed to be rescued. The climbers, a 28-year-old male and a 30-year-old male, both from Denver, began climbing around 11:30 a.m. and did not reach the top of the climb until around dusk and were uncertain of the descent route.

Rescuers from the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group climbed the East Slabs and reached the climbers at approximately 9:40 p.m. The two climbers were assisted off the southwest face of Tower One and then down the rock face and out to the road. The climbers did not sustain any injuries. The rescue took approximately 6 hours.

This was the second time a rescue of this type has been completed this month in the Park. The first rescue was during the evening of December 4, 2021.

Agencies assisting with this rescue included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, the Mountain View Fire Protection District and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.
