Small grass fire near South Boulder Rd. and Cherryvale Rd, Boulder County, Colorado

Electrical transformer suspected of starting a small grass fire on South Boulder Road.

Boulder County, Colo. - On October 23, 2021, at approximately 6:24 a.m., the Boulder County Communication Center received a report of a small grass fire started by downed electrical lines near the intersection of South Boulder Rd. and Cherryvale Rd.

Fire fighters from Mountain View Fire, Louisville Fire, and Boulder Fire Departments responded to the scene and were able extingish the fire that had grown in size to approximately 300 feet by 60 feet. No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened during the incident.

Xcel Energy responded to scene to investigate and suspect that an electrical transformer may have caused the fire.

Rangers from Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks and well as deputies from Boulder County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident to assist with traffic control.

The Boulder County Sheriff's Office case number for this incident is #21-5121.
