The victim was injured while sledding on Mount Sanitas

Boulder County, Colo. - On Thursday, February 18^th, 2021, at approximately 5:07 PM, Boulder County Communications was notified of a man who had injured his leg just west of the Sanitas Valley Trail at Mount Sanitas, just outside of Boulder.

The 39-year-old male, was sledding with his family when he hit his lower leg on a large rock while descending down the hillside. As a result of the injury, he was unable to move from that location. Members from The Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, Boulder Mountain Fire Protection District, and City of Boulder Open Space Mountain Parks Rangers provided first aid to the injured party. He was packaged in a litter and was carried out to the trailhead where he was transported to a local area hospital.

Agencies assisting with this rescue effort included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, American Medical Response (AMR), Boulder Mountain Fire Protection District, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.
