Two suspects occupying a stolen vehicle elude law enforcement
Boulder County, Colo. - Shortly after noon today, a Boulder County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a report of a vehicle parked in a no parking zone in the 900 block of Lake Shore Drive, in unincorporated Boulder County. The deputy recognized the vehicle description as matching a reported stolen vehicle out of Longmont.
There were two occupants in the stolen vehicle at them time. Based on information received from another law enforcement agency we had reason to believe that the occupants of the vehicle had multiple warrants and had previously eluded law enforcement several times. Based on this information, the deputy requested back-up before he attempted to make contact. The vehicle left the area and headed down Flagstaff Drive toward Boulder.
Multiple attempts at stopping the vehicle using stop sticks and block the vehicle were not successful. While attempting to block the vehicle in, the suspects rammed a sheriff’s office vehicle. The patrol vehicle sustained moderate damage, but fortunately the deputy was uninjured. A final set of stop sticks were used in Boulder which successfully disabled the vehicle near Table Mesa Drive and South Loop Drive where the occupants of the vehicle fled on foot. A perimeter was established and an Everbridge notification was sent to the surround neighborhood to alert them to the nearby law enforcement activity.
Officers from the Sheriff’s Office, Boulder Police Department, University of Colorado Boulder Police Department and Broomfield Police Department K9 assisted in searching for the suspects, one male and one female. Unfortunately, the suspects eluded law enforcement. Another Everbridge message was sent notifying the surrounding neighborhood that the search had concluded.
The associated Boulder County Sheriff’s Office case number is: #21-576.
