Small grass fire contained near Hygiene

Quarter-acre fire result of target shooting

Boulder County, Colo. - On Monday, January 18, 2021 at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received a 911 call regarding a grass fire in the 5600 block of Saint Vrain Rd in unincorporated Boulder County, Colorado. Firefighters from the Hygiene Fire Department and Lyons Fire Department responded, along with a deputy from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office. The fire was contained to approximately one quarter acre and no structures were damaged or threatened. Upon investigation, it was determined that the fire had started accidentally as a result of residents of the area target shooting.

The associated case number for this incident is 21-376.
