Boulder County, Colo - On Saturday, November 21^st, 2020, at approximately 3:15 pm, the Boulder County Communications Center was notified that a 59-year-old female had injured her ankle while hiking in Rabbit Mountain Open Space.

The 59-year-old female was hiking with her husband when they lost the trail, finding themselves at the top of a steep gully. They were able to see the trail head, so they proceeded straight down the gully. While descending, the female slipped on an area of loose rock, rolling her ankle. Lyons Fire, AMR Paramedics, and Open Space Rangers arrived and upon locating the patient, provided medical care. The injured party was evacuated by Rocky Mountain Rescue Group using a technical lowering system and a litter carry. She was transported to a local area hospital by ambulance.

Agencies assisting with this rescue effort included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Lyons Fire Department, Boulder County Parks and Open Space, American Medical Response, and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group. The rescue took approximately two hours.
