Female rescued after getting stranded on the Second Flatiron

Boulder County, Colo. - On Sunday, November 8, 2020, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Boulder County Communications Center was notified of a person scrambling the second flatiron who had become stuck and was unable to get down.

The 31-year-old female was scrambling the second flatiron when she moved into a section where she was unable to find adequate hand or foot holds and was unable to move up or down. Members from Rocky Mountain Rescue Group accessed the stuck climber using technical gear. The stuck climber was uninjured and was lowered to the ground. Once back to the trail, the scrambler was able to hike out to the trailhead.

Agencies assisting with this rescue effort included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group. The rescue took approximately two hours.
