Injured Climber Rescued from Second Flatiron
Boulder County, Colo. -
On Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at approximately 5:33 p.m. the Boulder County Sheriffs Communication Center received a 911 call reference a climber that fell approximately 100 to 150 feet while climbing on the Second Flatiron.
The climber was free climbing on a route called Free Way when she fell. The climber was not wearing a helmet or using climbing gear when she fell. Other climbers in the area went to her aid. Rocky Mountain Rescue Group did a technical litter evacuation to AMR ambulance. AMR paramedics provide medical care to the injured climber and transported her to an area hospital.
Agencies that assisted in the rescue included: Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, City of Boulder Fire Department, City of Boulder Park Rangers, American Medical Response Ambulance and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office. The rescue took approximately 5 hours.
