Rescuers assist stranded hiker off First Flatiron at Chautauqua Park
Boulder County, Colo. -
On Friday, September 11, 2020, at approximately 2:08 p.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a 20-year-old male who was stuck on a rock in the area between the First Flatiron and the Flatironette. The hiker, who is visiting from Tallahassee, FL, was hiking in the area and climbed into an area where he could not ascend or descend.
A ranger from the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks along with rescuers from the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group located the stuck party and used a rope to assist him back onto the ground and escorted him to the Bluebell Shelter.
The rescue took approximately one and one half hours. There were no reported injuries during this incident.
Agencies assisting with this rescue effort included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks.
