Injured Climber rescued near NCAR in Boulder County, Colorado

28 year old male injured while climbing at Der Circle Rock, NCAR

Boulder County, Colo. - On August 19, 2020, at about 5:30 p.m., the Boulder County Sheriff's Office Communications Center was notified of an injured climber near the NCAR (National Center for Atmospheric Research) trailhead, 1850 Table Mesa Drive in Boulder, Colorado.

The patient, a 28 year old male from Tennessee, was climbing in an area known as Der Circle Rock and sustained minor injuries to his ankles after falling about 10 feet. A friend called 911 to report the incident and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group (RMR), American Medical Response (AMR) ambulance service and the Boulder County Sheriff's Office responded.

Members with RMR went into the field and made contact with the patient at Der Circle Rock. He was stabilized and prepared for transport via a wheeled litter. The patient was brought to the trailhead parking lot and transported to an area hospital by AMR with minor injuries.
