Program Summary: | The 2013 flood may be a distant memory for most, but the recovery of this extreme natural event is still being worked on by Boulder County Parks & Open Space! One recently completed flood recovery project along the St. Vrain Creek will be excellent habitat for plants and wildlife of all kinds, including river otters, the federally threatened Preble’s meadow jumping mouse, and a myriad of native fish, birds, and insects! After a large scale restoration, an especially heavy lift for restoration practitioners is post-construction weed management – and this site needs your help! We would like to sweep through the project area to hand-pull a suite of non-native plants that are getting a strong foothold in our restoration area, and we need your help doing it! This first sweep of weed management will help to ensure that the native species germinating will have room to grow. |
