Program Summary: | Native seed is important for so many reasons. Using locally adapted plant material in ecological restoration brings diversity and resiliency to our Boulder County landscapes. Our native plants are also adapted to Boulder County’s unique soils, precipitation patterns, and extreme elevation gradient, so these plants are hardy! In order to use our local, ecotypic plants in restoration, often we need to collect their seeds from our local wildlands, and that’s where you come in! We will learn to identify our plant, Mountain Mahogany, then hike together in search of its seed. We’d love to have you on this project! |
