Program Summary: | List A weeds are mandated for eradication across Colorado and negatively impact healthy biodiversity. We need your help to keep this particular bad actor at bay. Hairy willow-herb is typically found in water-logged soils and easily tolerates inundation. Infestations can clog small waterways and displace native vegetation, increasing bank erosion and degrading wildlife habitat. Hairy willow-herb spreads easily into undisturbed areas and can form monotypic stands in wetland areas. Each mature plant can produce up to 70,000 seeds, which can be wind-dispersed thanks to a tuft of long white hairs on the oblong and flattened seeds. This is where YOU come in! Join Boulder County weed specialists to dig up this plant! This requires walking in and near water on uneven terrain, while carrying and using a shovel. Shovels will be provided. Sign up today to learn more about invasive weeds, their impact on the landscape, and to help us stave off this List A Species! |
