Program Summary: | Have you ever used iNaturalist? Have you ever wondered what happens to a landscape after a fire? If you can answer “yes” to either of these questions, then this event is for you! Come explore with us in the footprint of the Cal-Wood fire, the largest wildfire in Boulder County history. As a group, we will walk the landscape and observe the plants that are already starting to return in the wake of the burn. Using a smartphone app called iNaturalist, we will take photos of the plants we see, and identify any we can. Our photos will then be contributed to a growing database that will, with your help, allow us to better understand how our lands change and rebound after a fire. What you should know about this event: 1. We will be hiking on uneven terrain. Sturdy, closed-toe shoes are required. We are so excited to explore this changing landscape with you. We hope you’ll join us! |
