Program Summary:
Greetings! Want to get your feet wet in some land management – literally?! Boulder County Parks and Open Space needs your help strategically clearing out vegetation in an important water way – the South Branch of the St. Vrain Creek. This ditch is used for agricultural irrigation, however also provides valuable habitat for the Preble’s Meadow Jumping Mouse, a federally threatened mammal species. Many ditches need annual clearing of debris and vegetation to ensure unimpeded water flow for multiple users. To balance this necessary clearing with habitat protection, we need a small group of folks to help us with the targeted removal of cattails, using shovels and good ole elbow grease! We will provide rubber boots, however it’s likely your feet will get wet! Good thing it’s getting hot out there!
