Hybrid once established. Joe Pelle Center of alternative sentencing, 6230 Airport Rd, Boulder, CO.

Meetings held bi-weekly on Tuesday mornings at 7:30am-10am.

Program Summary:

Objectives of the Program: Community Corrections consists of professional and volunteer board members who, after reviewing cases, recommend potential clients from DOC and diversion for acceptance into the Joe Pelle Center for alternative sentencing. Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

Schedule interviews with clients/applicants, schedule guests (support for families of potential clients, client attorneys, etc.) for board meetings. We prefer you attend bi-weekly Tuesday morning (7:30-10am) Community Corrections board meetings to fully appreciate and experience the work, and take minute notes. Send meeting notes, and results on acceptance/denial to the courts and interested parties.

Work closely with ComCor staff on weekly deadlines. Update computer records of applicants and complete paperwork for referrals. Interact with JPC staff, board members, public defender’s office, the courts, Probation, District Attorney’s office and community agencies.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Min. age: 21.

Excellent attention to detail, good time management. Proficient with Microsoft 365, ability to learn internal databases. Ability to work respectfully and effectively with professional staff, volunteer board members, and other agencies.

Knowledge of, and interest in, the criminal justice system. Good written and verbal skills. Ability to be flexible and handle multiple tasks; work well independently and as a team member.

Student volunteers or interns must have achieved senior level of college, or grad level studies. Non-academic applicants with admin work history, proven reliability, and an interest in the process are encouraged to apply. Spanish language abilities are helpful but not required.

Training Dates and Information:

Training is one-on-one with staff. Ongoing trainings may be offered as they are made available to volunteer board members and staff.

I receive the three references, run background check and complete the vetting before sending full application documents to the appropriate supervisor. If initially approved to move forward, the applicant will be contacted for interview by the supervisor.

If approved and accepted, fingerprinting must be completed before beginning the position.

Specific materials, technology and orientation will occur after fingerprinting is complete.
