Agricultural Heritage Center Gardener

Time Commitment & Minimum Age: Work at least two one-hour shifts per month between late March and early November. Must be at least 14 years old.
Location:

The Agricultural Heritage Center is located at 8348 Ute Highway 66 west of Longmont.

Program Summary:

Volunteers manage the World War I era Victory Garden (heirloom) at the Agricultural Heritage Center at the Lohr/McIntosh Farm.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work on a team of volunteers to plan, plant, weed, water, and harvest the garden.
  • Occasionally speak to visitors if volunteering during public visitation hours.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Must be at least 14 years old (volunteers under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult parent/guardian during training and volunteer shifts).
  • Gardening experience.
  • Ability to work on a team and independently at different times of the year.
  • Knowledge or interest in agriculture, historic preservation, and/or local history.
  • Computer and internet required for scheduling and to record volunteer hours.
  • Must have personal transportation.
  • Pass background check.
Training Dates and Information:
  • Attend new volunteer training and orientation.
  • Minimum commitment of two 1 hour shifts per month (early May – early Nov.).
