Boulder County Jail Transport Team
The Boulder County Jail Transport Team ensures that in-custody defendants at the Boulder County Jail attend all scheduled court appearances, both in-person and via video, within the 20th Judicial District, located in the City of Boulder and the City of Longmont. Video court appearances extend beyond the 20th Judicial District. The team works with Judicial Districts across the United States to ensure individuals in custody at the Boulder County Jail can appear remotely as needed.
The Boulder County Jail Transport Team also transports in-custody individuals to all county and state correctional facilities across Colorado. The team transports individuals to medical appointments and various mental health institutions in Colorado. Additionally, the team transports in-custody juvenile offenders to state and local juvenile offender facilities in Colorado as needed.
Boulder County Court Security Unit
The Boulder County Court Security Unit is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the courthouses located at the Criminal Justice Center in Boulder and the 20th Judicial District Court – Boulder County Combined Courts in Longmont. The unit protects court staff, the public, the District Attorney’s Office, and anyone who enters these facilities.
The Court Security Unit assists Boulder County Probation in taking individuals into custody who have violated the terms and conditions of their probation. They also provide security for the Boulder Juvenile Assessment Center, located at the Criminal Justice Center (CJC), and are responsible for transporting juvenile defendants to court.
Additionally, the team provides courtroom security during court proceedings and ensures the safety of all involved. The unit also manages security screening at the entrances to each court facility, preventing weapons and other contraband from being brought into the premises.
