Alternative Sentencing Facility Programming

The ASF will provide a dignified, therapeutic, living environment for up to 252 residents and will also offer an array of rehabilitative programs designed to treat individual criminogenic risk factors and support efforts toward a successful re-entry into society.

ASF Residential Programs

Community Corrections

Offenders who are sentenced to community corrections must serve their time in a facility (traditionally a halfway house) but are allowed to come and go from the facility (unsupervised) for work, educational programs, medical appointments and other basic “business of life” items such as paying bills, etc. Participants are required to pay daily fees to cover the costs associated with the program.

Work Release

Work Release is a program that allows an inmate to continue working while satisfying a jail sentence. They are allowed to go out to work, anything court or probation ordered, and medical/dental appointments. The residents pay a weekly fee for living in the jail or a community treatment center. They must report to the jail or treatment center after work and remain there, unless excused by jail or treatment center staff to attend programs, etc.”

Sheriff’s Office Community Workers and Work Crews

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) worker programs are comprised of offenders who are sentenced to either a straight jail sentence (traditionally served in the county jail) or to a work crew sentence (they can serve 1 to 7 days per week and spend nights at their home). Both types of sentences are supervised by the BCSO and perform limited physical labor for local government and nonprofit agencies. There are no fees charged to the participants sentenced to straight jail.

Work crew sentenced inmates are charged $10 per day served. Assignments to work crews/community worker, do not generate income for the participants. Participants are offered incentives such as earning additional good time credit toward straight time jail sentences.

*Community Workers are offenders with straight jail sentences. Community Workers will be housed at the ASF and the BCSO will continue to operate the programs and provide supervision when the workers are out on a job.

*Work Crews are offenders who are sentenced to work crew. Those who serve 1-7 days per week on a work crew go home at the end of each day.

ASF Non-Residential Programs

Home Detention/Electronic Monitoring Program

Offenders who are sentenced to home detention are allowed to serve their sentence at home but must comply with strict terms of supervision through an electronic monitoring system. The monitoring program uses state-of-the-art technology and is compatible with cell phones as well as land line phone systems. Offenders have a minimum sentence of at least 10 days but not exceed two years to participate. Participants are required to pay daily fees to cover the costs associated with the program.

Day Reporting

Offenders who are sentenced to Day Reporting are allowed to serve their sentence at home, but are required to report to the Day Reporting Center on a schedule basis. This structured reporting schedule allows case managers to ensure that the participant maintains program compliance and consistently demonstrates the ability to self-manage. Participants are required to pay daily fees to cover the costs associated with the program.
