Online Application Submittals: Register for an Account

Permit Records & Online Application Submittals is a website Boulder County uses for online planning, permitting, and licensing services.

Complete walkthrough of the process to register for an account. See individual steps below.

In this Permit Records & Online Application Submittals guide, we’ll walk you through the steps needed to create an account.

An account is needed to apply for a permit/license/planning application, upload documents, and pay fees. An account is not needed if you only need to look at the status of a permit, license, or planning application.

Watch the entire process in the video, or follow the individual steps below.

Register for an account walkthrough

You’ll need to be on the Permit Records & Online Application Submittals webpage. If you have not yet found it, this is a direct link to it: https://boco.org/PermitRecordsRegister

Click on Register for an Account link.

Depending on the page you start from, there may be several links you can use to start the process for Register for an Account. Most pages, will have a link at the top that says Register for an Account. It does not matter which link you use, the process is the same for all the links.

Check the terms box

Check the box next to I have red and accept the above terms. You may need to scroll down to see the box. The terms you are agreeing to are Boulder County’s Privacy Policy and Legal Information for the BoulderCounty.org website.

After you check the box, click the Continue Registration button to take you to the next screen.

Enter account information

On this page is where you will enter in your account (also called login) information. Pick a username to use to login. You’ll need to remember your username. You may wish to use your email address as your username, so you’ll have one thing less to remember – that is unless you don’t remember that you used your email as your username! Use whatever best works for you.

Enter you email in the next field.

Click on the Enter Contact Information button. A form will open up.

Enter contact information

Now you need to enter your contact information. This is very similar to the information you just enter, but with key differences that will be explained.

The information you enter on this can be used to fill out the contact information on an application form in the future. Enter your full name on how you want it to be used by default – for instance “John Public” vs “John Q Public” vs “Dr. John Public”. The choice is yours. Note that this is not your username.

If the contact is associated with a business, you can enter that as well.

You’ll then need to re-enter your email address. In some rare cases, you may want to enter a different email address. This could be done where there are several people in a business that all have their own accounts, but the contact email should be set to a shared email address.

Last enter a contact phone number.

When you are done entering the contact information, click the Continue button.

The form closes, and the contact information you just enter replaces the button you clicked on earlier.

Summary page

Click on the Continue Registration button. The name for this button is misleading, because it is the last step in creating an account.

A summary page is shown that says you have successfully registered your account. It may be helpful to write down or print this information, as it has your username and security question listed on it.

An email will also be sent to the email address you entered for your account (not the contact email address).

After you Register an Account, you are not automatically logged in. If you plan on applying for a permit, license, or planning application right away, you will need to login before doing so.

Click on one of the login links – it is shown near the top of the page.

Enter your username and password to login.
