Geographic Information Systems (GIS) FAQ

Conversions, projections, consultation or support are not provided for general distribution data. The data is provided ‘as is’.

Both parcel and precinct data is available for download free of charge, from the Boulder County Geospatial Open Data Site. Questions concerning parcel data can be directed to the Assessor’s Office at (303) 441-4830. Questions concerning precinct boundaries can be directed to the .

Road centerline data with address ranges is available for download, free of charge, from Boulder County’s Downloadable GIS Data.

For road centerlines outside of Boulder County, data can be obtained from the Colorado Department of Transportation. You can download data for the entire state, or by county. Other road and traffic-related information is offered at the CDOT Statistics, Maps & Data website.

The GIS datasets are updated as necessary. The date of last update is in the metadata associated with each dataset.

You can view and interact with the data on the Boulder County Geospatial Open Data Site using a web browser.

QGIS is free and open source software that can be used to create, edit, visualize, analyze, and publish geospatial information on Windows, Mac, Linux, and BSD. It supports numerous vector, raster, and database formats and functionalities.

Google Earth is used for KMZ format files.
