Agricultural Land Value and Colorado Law
Agricultural land is defined in the Colorado Revised Statutes as found in the Assessors’ Reference Library (ARL), Volume 3, Chapter 5, Pages 5.2–5.4, PDF Pages 184–186. For further information, see the Classification and Valuation of Agricultural Property in Colorado brochure.
The assessor periodically reviews agricultural land to verify that it is still being used for agricultural purposes. This can include a request for a copy of the previous year’s income tax form (1040-F), a grazing lease, or a completed agricultural land classification questionnaire. The assessor may also conduct a physical inspection of the land.
