Current Trail Closures and Alerts

  • Walden Ponds
    The Wally Toevs fishing pier at Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat is closed until further notice due to structural issues. The pond remains open for fishing.
  • Carolyn Holmberg Preserve at Rock Creek Farm
    A trail closure is in place along S. 104th Street to protect territorial bald eagles. Learn More
  • Lagerman Trail
    The western end of the reservoir is closed for nesting birds until Aug. 31. The seasonal wildlife closure normally begins April 1, but it is closed early this year because birds are already nesting.
  • Boulder Canyon Trail
    A section of trail is closed at the bridge a quarter-mile east of Fourmile Canyon Drive. Learn More
  • Longmont-to-Boulder (LoBo) Trail
    A section of the LoBo Trail, just north of the Monarch Trailhead, will be closed for maintenance on March 18-19 and March 23-24. Closures are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Closure Map

Muddy Trails

Shortcutting around muddy trails greatly increases erosion and destroys vegetation. If a trail is reported to be in poor condition, consider using another trail.

Tips for Muddy Trails

  • Use trails early in the morning before it gets too muddy
  • Go through mud, not around it – trails take years to heal, so get muddy
  • Use a different trail if it is too muddy
