Unidentified Male Found Deceased in Barker Reservoir

Boulder County, Colo. - Shortly after noon today, July 6, 2025, first responders were notified by a person fishing at Barker Reservoir, outside of the Town of Nederland, that they believed they saw a deceased person floating face-down in the reservoir.

Personnel from the Nederland Fire Protection District responded to the scene and confirmed that there was a deceased male. The unidentified male’s body was recovered by Boulder Emergency Squad's cold water dive team from the reservoir.

The Boulder County Coroner’s Office will determine the identification of the decedent, as well as determine the cause and manner of death.

The following agencies responded to Barker Reservoir this afternoon: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Nederland Fire Protection District, Boulder Emergency Squad, and the Boulder County Coroner’s Office.
