Unattended death off of Ranger Trail

Boulder County, Colo. - Shortly after midnight, the Boulder County Communications Center received a call from a reporting party stating that they were concerned about the welfare of a family member. The family member was believed to be in the area of Flagstaff Road, possibly on or near one of the nearby hiking trails.

A search for the female, who was in her mid-twenties, was conducted through the night and into the morning using personnel on foot, as well as an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone). Several trails and trailheads were closed while emergency personnel conducted the search.

Shortly after 9:00 a.m. a passerby, who was hiking, discovered the body of a deceased female, matching the description of the female that emergency personnel were searching for off of Ranger Trail, on a City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks property.

The following agencies responded to this incident: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, Boulder Emergency Squad, Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, Boulder Fire-Rescue and Boulder County Coroner.

The investigation is on-going, but at this time, there is nothing suspicious about the incident. The identification of the decedent, as well as the cause and manner of death will be released by the Boulder County Coroner. The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office associated case number is: 19-4128.
