Climbers stuck on the Red Garden Wall

Boulder County, Colo. - On Saturday, September 14, 2019, about 10:55 p.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a call about two stuck climbers in Eldorado Canyon State Park, located in unincorporated Boulder County.

A male and female in their mid-20’s had been climbing the Rupert route on the Red Garden Wall. As they began their descent, they attempted to rappel down but their rope had become stuck. Unable to safely rappel, they called the Boulder County Communications Center and requested assistance.

Rescue personnel arrived on scene and located the parties. The rescuers were able to get to the stuck climbers and assist them back down to the trailhead. Other than being cold and tired, the climbers were uninjured. The entire rescue operation lasted nearly four hours.

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the rescue by the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.

The associated Boulder County Sheriff’s Office case number is: #19-5402
