Marshall Fire: Statement from Boulder County regarding media inquiries about active ongoing investigations and records

Statement from Boulder County regarding media inquiries about active ongoing investigations and records

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder County and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office have received numerous requests for records and other information, including body camera footage, and to conduct interviews with law enforcement personnel regarding the ongoing investigation into the origin of the Marshall Fire. As these records are compiled for law enforcement purposes, and the recollections of involved personnel are associated with an active criminal investigation, the BCSO will not be releasing additional information or participating in any media interviews on this topic. The BCSO at this time are denying requests on the basis that disclosure of this information and these records is contrary to the public interest, as such disclosure could hinder or interfere with the active investigation concerning the origin of the Marshall Fire. See C.R.S. § 24-72-305(5).

Boulder County Sheriff's Office will provide updates when available.
