Skier dies following collision at Eldora Ski Area
Skier vs. snowboarder crash leads to fatality
Boulder County, Colo. - On Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at approximately 11:00 a.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received a 911 call from Eldora Ski Area regarding a collision between a skier and a snowboarder at the resort. Ski patrol reported that the collision had occurred on the “Windmill” run and that the skier was unconscious and not breathing. As deputies and medical personnel were responding, ski patrol continued resuscitative efforts, including CPR, and a medical helicopter was placed on air standby. The 72-year-old male skier, a Boulder resident, was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene at 11:43 a.m. The victim’s identity is being withheld at this time pending notification of his next of kin. The snowboarder, a male resident of Wellington, CO, was interviewed at the scene by deputies and detectives with the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, following treatment for injuries that he had sustained from the collision. No criminal charges have been filed at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
