Sick Hiker on the Royal Arch Trail

Boulder County, Colo. - On Friday, August 5, 2022 at approximately 11:50 a.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sick hiker on the Royal Arch Trail.

City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Park Rangers were first to arrive with the patient followed by Rocky Mountain Rescue Group personnel. After stabilizing the patient, rescuers moved the patient in a litter to the staged ambulance. The 18-year-old hiker from Boulder was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The rescue took approximately five hours.

Agencies assisting with the rescue included: American Medical Response, Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.
