Sick Hiker Assisted on Shadow Canyon Trail

Boulder County, Colo. -

On Saturday, August 6, 2022 at approximately 1:40 p.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sick hiker near the South Boulder Peak on the Shadow Canyon Trail.

A City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Park Ranger was first to arrive with the patient followed by Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and Mountain View Fire Protection District. After restorative measures, the hiker and rescuers walked out to the trailhead. The 38-year-old hiker from Highlands Ranch was cleared by American Medical Response and was reunited with her family at the trailhead. The rescue took approximately five hours.

Agencies assisting with the rescue included: American Medical Response, Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, Mountain View Fire Protection District and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.

The associated Boulder County Sheriff’s Office case number was 22-3856.
