Commissioners Will Consider Three Proposed Measures at August 17 Public Hearing


Boulder County, Colo. -- On August 17, 2023, the Boulder County Commissioners will hold a public hearing to consider putting forward two county ballot measures at this year’s November election. Additionally, sitting as the Board of Directors of the Nederland EcoPass Public Improvement District at this public hearing, the board will consider putting forward a third ballot measure to the electors of the Nederland EcoPass Public Improvement District.

Open Space extension

A proposal to extend for fifteen years the existing 0.05% countywide sales and use tax for the purpose of acquiring, improving, managing and maintaining open space lands and other open space property interests.

Affordable Housing extension

A proposal to extend for fifteen years the existing 0.185% countywide sales and use tax for the purposes of funding existing and additional affordable housing and supportive services for people residing in or eligible for affordable housing within Boulder County.

Nederland EcoPass Public Improvement District extension

A proposal for a ballot issue for the November 2023 election to extend for ten years the District’s existing ad valorem property tax mill levy imposed at a rate not to exceed 1.85 mills for the purposes of paying the costs of providing a Regional Transportation District EcoPass to all District residents; and to seek elector authorization for the District to administer an EcoPass program for non-resident employees of employers operating within the District.

Public Comment & Public Hearing

Comments should be submitted by 12 noon on Tuesday, August 15 using the online form. Public comment can also be shared in-person (1325 Pearl St, Boulder), online via Zoom, or by phone during the Public Hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. on August 17.
