Rescue of an injured cyclist at Betasso Preserve Case #19-2370

Boulder County, Colo. -

On April 28, 2019 at approximately 12:50 p.m. the Boulder County Sheriff's Office along with Boulder County Parks and Open Space Park Rangers, the Sugarloaf Fire Department, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and American Medical Response (AMR)Ambulance, responded to Betasso Preserve located at 377 Betasso Road in Boulder County, Colorado on the report of an injured cyclist.

A 35 year-old female was mountain biking with her boyfriend, and she fell off her bicycle at the approximate two mile marker on the Canyon Loop Trail at Betasso Preserve. A park user called 911 after witnessing the accident. The female and her boyfriend were able to walk approximately one mile to the Sugarloaf Fire Department's Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) where they were met by emergency personnel. The female was then transported approximately one mile by UTV to the trailhead. The female was transported by AMR to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
