Press Release – Anna Englund Pleads Guilty

Boulder County, Colo. -- On June 10, 2023, Anna Englund killed her 2-month-old child, Miles. Miles’ father had been concerned for the mother’s mental health after the birth of Miles. So, the father had been paying close attention to the mother and baby. When he went to the bathroom on the day of the incident, the defendant used that opportunity to take Miles from their home and drive to a location where she killed him. She then drove around with the baby for several hours while law enforcement was frantically searching for them. Ultimately, she went to Boulder Community Health with Miles, who was deceased, where she was arrested by law enforcement and later confessed to strangling him.

Today, Anna Englund, pled guilty to Second Degree Murder (F2) and was sentenced to forty (40) years in the Department of Corrections.

District Attorney Michael Dougherty stated, “This guilty plea and lengthy sentence is the right result in this very sad case. I want to thank the Boulder Police Department for their tireless efforts and hard work on this investigation. It is heartbreaking to acknowledge the immense emotional toll on the baby’s father and family, as well as all the police officers who desperately tried to prevent this tragic murder. Our prosecution team worked hard to ensure that we were able to secure the right outcome for this defendant, which is a very lengthy sentence to state prison.”
