Now Open: Nederland Mining Museum, Assay Office Museum, and Agricultural Heritage Center.

Take advantage of free educational opportunities from Boulder County Parks & Open Space.

Boulder County, Colo. - The Boulder County Parks & Open Space Nederland Mining Museum, Assay Office Museum, and Agricultural Heritage Center are now open for the 2023 season! Admission is free. Museum season ends in October.

The Nederland Mining Museum offers a glimpse into the world of hard rock mining days in Boulder County. Indoor and outdoor displays of trams, ore carts, engines, historic photographs, and rare mining claim maps show how miners lived and how hard rock mining played a part in Colorado’s history.

  • Hours: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Learn even more about our mining past by visiting the James F. Bailey Assay Office Museum. The museum contains many tools and implements used in the assaying process, as well as furniture and artwork owned by the Bailey family.

Visitors to the Agricultural Heritage Center can learn about the rich agricultural history of Boulder County while enjoying the rural setting and mountain views in Longmont. The farm includes two barns with interactive exhibits, a milk house, heirloom garden, and a furnished 1909 farmhouse. During the busy season there are also animals on site, including chickens, pigs, sheep, and other critters.
